A new version of DriverMax is available (4.6) today. If you are not familiar with DriverMax, you should be - especially if you get drafted into the computer repair service by your relatives and friends! You can read my previous entry on DriverMax (version 3.6) here.
DriverMax is a new tool that allows you to download the latest driver updates for your computer. No more searching for rare drivers on discs or on the web or inserting one installation CD after the other. Just create a free account, log in, and start downloading the updates that you need.I absolutely LOVE this program as it has made system rebuilds a dream. Forget trying to download all those obscure hardware drivers...just load up DriverMax, run a detect process, export them to a USB drive and re-import them after you re-install Windows.
You can also export all your current drivers (or just the ones that work ok) to a folder or a compressed file. After reinstalling Windows you will have everything in one place!
Also, there is a feature in DriverMax to detect unknown hardware devices and compare it with DriverMax's online device database. Now, I've not had a chance to do this yet, but it does seem helpful if it is anything compared to Radarsync, another great update program that I've reviewed.
You need a serial number to continue to use it after 30 days, but registration is free, and I have not received any spam from them (except for an update annoucement!).

Very nice program, thanks very much.
I downloaded the program but did not yet install - i searched their site for a privacy policy but found nothing. I thought that was strange so, I'm holding off for now.
It's ok, but RadarSync is better and free.
Radarsync doesn't let you export and import drivers, and DriverMax is free...
Radarsync fills a different niche than what DriverMax does.
I've been using DriverMax for a while now, it works extremely well for new systems builds.
Hi
I've used DriverMax (free edition) to update drivers on several machines and it's worked well.
Now I want to import drives from a backup as I have re-installed xp. I get an error message for all the exported drivers. It says that the file expected in the DriverMax\Temp folder does not exist.
Any suggestions on how to fix or work round this error?
Thanks in advance
Davva
No fix Davva, but I can at least confirm the bug. Is there a bug tracker or something where we can report this?
