An excellent full-disk backup system (think Norton Ghost or Acronis TrueImage, but for the rest of us who don't have a ton of money!), Macrium Reflect Free has been a favorite of mine since I discovered it a couple months back. Now, normally I don't post about paid software, but since I like Reflect so much, I'm willing to make an exception - and since Nick from Macrium is such a nice guy... ;)
On September 16th, 2008 (and on the 16th ONLY) the full version of Macrium Reflect is available to you for 50% off of it's normal price of $39.99 for $20 via http://www.bitsdujour.com!
From the website, Macrium's features:
- Create accurate and reliable images of your hard disk or partitions on your disk.
- Simple step-by-step operation using intuitive wizards and interfaces.
- Full automation, scheduling, and disk space optimization.
- Built-in VBScript generator integrates with VBScript and WScript, enabling complete control of the backup process.
- Leading data compression technology offers three different compression levels to optimize between file size and speed.
- Options for full, incremental, or differential (only what's changed) backups.
- Backup individual files, folders, or entire drives.
- Filter irrelevant files to prevent clutter.
- Modify a partition for storage and backups.
- Files can be retrieved even when Windows won't load or is in use.
- Password protect backups to prevent unauthorized access.
To see a complete list of all the feature differences between the free and full editions, check out the comparison matrix here.
Now, if you can't afford the $20, I suggest you give Macrium Reflect Free a try and see what the hype is all about!

Or you could get Acronis True Image 11 for just $9.99!! Details are on a UK forum.
Yes you can, but this uses a windows PE as the recovery media, which has much less of an issue booting with different hardware compared with Acronis, which uses a linux disk.
Actually you can have Acronis True Image Home edition for free if you have Seagate/Maxtor hard disk (internal/external).
Just go to Seagate/Maxtor website and download Seagate Disc Wizard, this is actually True Image re branded with their name.
Nice thought - but since when can $20 be the business of a FREEWARE Junkie!

True - - but since Macrium does produce a freeware edition, this falls into that 'gray' area... :) Some folks love the free edition, but may want the extra features that the paid version supplies, so I wanted to let you all know!
If you don't want to buy it, then I highly recommend the freeware edition (of course).
Ahh! Me no realise your surreptitious ways! Many thanks.
