Tera Term Pro 4.58
Back when I was doing more work with remote hosts via telnet, I used a program called Secure-CRT by VanDyke technologies. I absolutely LOVED the program, but of course, if others wanted to use it, they'd have to buy their own license. Sometimes management was reluctant to open their wallets for a tool that we absolutely needed. Go figure. :)
A few years back, I found a great tool called Teraterm. The program did just about everything I needed it to, but my co-workers needed something that would perform secure host communications. Not too much longer after that, we moved to a tool called PuTTY (which I also love), and this is what we stuck with ever since.
I decided to look up Teraterm to find out what ever became of the software, and sure enough, the last update to the Web-site was 1999 (last offering by the original author was 1998!). But... I discovered someone had come up with a new version under open source licensing!
So, I offer up to you a later open-sourced incarnation of Teraterm, called UTF-8 Teraterm Pro with TTSSH2. Well, I will call it Teraterm Pro for short, OK? In any case, connectivity was speedy, stable, and was easy to use.
There's just not much to say about this program, since it really is no frills. Teraterm Pro does its job, and it does it well.

- Teraterm menu gives you the ability to quickly connect to some saved hosts via an icon that resides in your Systray.
- Configurable options are many in number. You can control just about any aspect of your connection
- Ability to connect to a remote host using SSH
- Macro capability to automate regular tasks
Dislikes:
Can't think of any at the moment...I'm not a super heavy terminal user, but perhaps someone else can chime in on this one?

Thanks. I've tried it (briefly), but I'm sticking to Secure-CRT V5.5.2. I love the auto session option (automatically opens pre-configured sessions on startup) and I adore tabs. I can not live without these options :-)
