Make your PC a one-click wonder: Soft Right Click 1.9b

SoftRightClick 1.9b

I realized that the button driver was not functioning any longer on my Fujitsu P1510D laptop (which is like a Tablet PC, but isn't running the Tablet OS, nor does it have a pressure-sensitive screen or support for an eraser-enabled pen stylus), and any reinstallation of the driver was fruitless, as I encountered the same error no matter what I did.

Rather than perform a complete rebuild - since I wasn't sure that the results of my rebuild would be any different than what I was experiencing already - I decided to look for a quick and dirty way of avoiding a system format.

Honestly, I really only needed a way of performing a right-click while in 'Tablet' mode, as it was getting annoying having to flip the screen around just to close an item in the systray, or see a context menu...

So, I found this cool little utility written by Jerry Kindall, called 'SoftRightClick', and it is elegantly simple as the name implies...an application that emulates a right-click.

How it works

You hold down your primary mouse button and keep your mouse relatively still (or in the case of a passive stylus, you press on the tablet screen for a period of time) after a specified interval, a small circular indicator appears briefly, followed by the context menu. Easy!

Options

There are some options available (see the above screenshot) - you can specify which mouse button (or even when you hover!), tell it to run at startup, and you can even specify how long you want to delay before the menu appears in cases of drag & holding.

Even if you don't have a tablet PC, or in my case, a PC that pretends it is a tablet, you could still use this utility to make your primary mouse button your only mouse button that you use!

Thanks to Jerry - you have given me a sigh of relief with my P1510!
