Akin to audible.com, Podiobooks.com offers many full books recorded to audio, many times read by the authors themselves. Of course, if I'm talking about it on CFJ, these books must be free...and, yes, they are! Now a lot of these aren't your mainstream titles, but there are definitely excellent audio books out there. The obvious benefit to you is that you can become exposed to some new authors if you don't have a lot of time to devote to reading (which a lot of us don't!).
For example, I've been listening to 'Ancestor' by Scott Sigler. It is a great sci-fi/horror story with excellent characters and a fast-moving plot. Update: And how cool is it that Scott Sigler himself commented on this entry!? I'm an author and I have a great story...
From the other angle, if you are an aspiring author, this could be a great way to get your stories out there, especially if you don't have a lot of capital. Podiobooks.com offers services that can help bring your writing a whole new dimension.

Oh sure, Scott's easy to bribe. But now that he's got a three book deal with Crown and has sold the movie option to Rogue Pictures, his price has gone up just a titch.
