I can't say enough about the PowerToys utilities by Microsoft. Back when Windows 95 was new, there were a number of PowerToys which even to this day are extremely useful...I make the Sendto PowerToy a standard installation even on Windows XP configurations.
I'll go over my favorites and explain why they are so great - well, at least I think so...!
SendTo PowerToy (updated 08/29/07)

- SendTo Extensions - Right-click a file and have the ability to send the file/folder object or path to various destinations.
- Clipboard (Contents)... - Send the object to the clipboard, akin to highlighting a file/folder or group of files/folders and pressing [ctrl]+[c]
- Clipboard (Name)... - Send the complete path to the clipboard, so you can paste it into an application or text editor, etc. Very handy for us scripty folks.
- Run... - Send the complete path to the 'Start'> 'Run' field, making it very easy to enter command-line options/switches.
Not only will the SendTo Powertoy allow you to send files, folders, etc. to a variety of destinations, but it will give you an easy way to manage those destinations by adding an applet into your control panel.
Windows XP Power ToysHow to install? Just download the .exe and run them from your computer.
Important
If you installed PowerToys prior to April 23, 2002, you must uninstall your old PowerToys before installing the versions available here.
PowerToys only work with U.S. English regional settings.
- Open Command Window Here... - "This PowerToy adds an "Open Command Window Here" context menu option on file system folders, giving you a quick way to open a command window (cmd.exe) pointing at the selected folder.
- TweakUI... - "This PowerToy gives you access to system settings that are not exposed in the Windows XP default user interface, including mouse settings, Explorer settings, taskbar settings, and more. Version 2.10 requires Windows XP Service Pack 1 or Windows Server 2003."
- Image Resizer... - "This PowerToy enables you to resize one or many image files with a right-click."
Do any of you have any handy quickie utilities that you like to install on every computer you use? If so, share them here in the comments!
